General Club Events

BMC Alumnae Association Presidential Reception

The Bryn Mawr Alumnae Association is honored to invite you to a reception at The Washington Club to introduce you to President Jane Dammen McAuliffe. The reception will also include Bryn Mawr's New York Classroom, a faculty-student panel moderated by President McAuliffe. We will be joined by Harvey Wexler Professor of Economics Michael Rock and two of his students, Menghan Shen '10 and Tinu Akinfolarin '09, who will discuss the role of institutions in economic development. We hope to see you there!

Learn from a range of local alumnae entrepreneurs how they built their businesses and get their advice for becoming your own boss. Liza Jane Bernard, director of the Bryn Mawr-Haverford Career Development Office, will moderate.

Annual Meeting at the Watergate

Join old friends and meet new ones on the first Saturday in May (May 2) at the Club’s traditional Annual Meeting/May Day weekend celebration. Louise Wiener has graciously agreed to host the Club’s Annual Meeting again this year.

Apart from mixing and mingling, sipping and nibbling, the event will include a short business meeting, which will highlight the past year’s programs and activities and introduce and new executive officers and nominating committee members.

Thanks to member donations to help defray the costs of Club events, this event is offered free of charge. However, we need to provide an accurate guest list at the front door. Note that space is limited to approximately 70 guests, so please respond early –- and no later than Friday, April 24th.

Directions: Louise’s apartment is in the Watergate East Building, 2500 Virginia Avenue, #212S (202-333-3175). Street parking in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood is limited, but paid parking is available at a number of garages in the area. From the Foggy Bottom Metro (Orange and Blue lines), either walk down New Hampshire Ave. to Virginia Ave. (a 5-7 minute walk) or take the shuttle bus from the Metro to the Kennedy Center and walk from there.


Junior Club Events

Welcome to the Junior Club of Washington! We hope that our recreational and volunteer events will offer Mawrters a place to reconnect with and meet other recent graduates. Our events are aimed at graduates of the classes of 1998-2008, but all are welcome.

Please feel free to contact us with ideas so that the club can reflect everyone’s insights and interests. Screen on the Green, National Mall TBA Free movies are shown on the national mall on Monday evenings during the summer. Once the schedule is released, we’ll pick a film and date. Please let us know your preferences!
